It is planned to reach the underground salt reserves by means of horizontal/vertical drillings to be made from the Kaverna Entry-Exit areas. The fresh water, taken from the Seyhan River and funneled to the inlet and outlet of the Kaverna by the pumps and fresh water pipelines at the Ballıca Melting Station, will be directed to the underground through the opened boreholes, thereby melting the salt beds. The saline water to be released will be discharged into the Mediterranean Sea again by means of the pumps and through the brine pipelines at the Ballıca Melting Station. By means of the compressor at the Alifakı and Ballıca Stations and through natural gas pipelines to be directed at the formed Kaverna’s, the capability to store gas and to reuse the said stored gas will be ensured.
