Project site; It will be located in the Mediterranean region around Mersin, Tarsus District, Ballıca, Alifaki, Heleke, Nemiroğlu, Mahmutağa, Ağzıdelik, Baharlı, Çatalca and Zübeyir Villages. A part of the brine discharge pipeline to be included in the Project is located within the borders of Tabaklar Village of Karataş District of Adana Province. Two surface compressor stations for the proposed Project; Ballıca and Alifakı will be constructed. The bird’s flight distance from the selected Ballıca station to Tarsus district is approximately 11 km, from the said station to Mersin city center is 35.5 km and from the said station to Adana city center is 29.5 km. The bird’s flight distance from Alifakı station to Tarsus district is about 8 km, from the said station to Mersin city center is 32 km and from the said station to Adana city center is 33 km.
The closest and most convenient water source to the Project Site is Seyhan River and the length of the pipeline from the water intake station where the water required for the formation of kaverna’s will be received, to the melting station to be installed in Ballıca Station is approximately 19.5 km. The length of the salt water discharge line from the Ballıca Compressor and the Melting Station to Mediterranean Sea is about 22 km (the part to be extended within the sea is approx.1.5 km).
The kaverna’s area, considered for the project area is located 6.5-7 km south of Adana-Mersin (D 400) highway. The surface area of the project is approximately 313,000 m2. (considering the Alifakı, Ballıca Station Areas, the discharge chimney areas thereof, the Kaverna Entry-Exit areas and the areas of the Water Intake Station planned to be used jointly with Gazdepo ve Madencilik A.Ş., and the BOTAŞ Pig Station).
